Flamingos Life: The Spanish Shoemakers of the Vegan Shoe

Every year, millions of animals are slaughtered to make our shoes, contributing to the livestock industry, which is the most polluting of all, even surpassing the transport sector. This industry is also linked to the massive deforestation of our planet. It is in this context that veganism stands out as a driver of change, reducing CO2 emissions, conserving water, and respecting the lives of all creatures.

The fashion industry, meanwhile, ranks second among the most polluting sectors, while also being one of the least transparent. Millions of people, including children, work in exploitative conditions throughout our clothing supply chain. This is where Flamingos comes in to give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves.

Flamingos' philosophy is based on three fundamental principles: first, they use their company as a means to fight the ecological crisis by promoting veganism as a key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the water footprint. Second, they believe that animals have intrinsic value and deserve a life free from suffering. Finally, they aspire to make the fashion industry more transparent and to provide consumers with all the information they need to make informed decisions.

Flamingos' ultimate goal is to create biodegradable sneakers. Their production centers, located in Elche, Spain, and Portugal, are family-run. They stand out by using their own materials, including corn, bamboo, hemp, organically grown cotton without pesticides, as well as sustainably harvested natural rubber from the Hevea brasiliensis tree.

Each of their sneaker collections is associated with a social project, aimed at balancing their impact on the planet and improving the lives of the most vulnerable individuals. They collaborate with Agua ONG to build water wells in Uganda, with Eden Reforestation Projects for reforestation projects in Madagascar and Mozambique, and support Waste Free Oceans with monthly donations for marine debris collection and educational projects on environmental awareness. Flamingos Life embodies a sustainable and ethical approach to fashion and footwear.
