The B Corp label: The positive impact of businesses, rewarded.
B Corp: “Not seeking to be the best company in the world, but the best company for the world.”
What is the B Corp label?
Imported from the United States, the B Corp (Benefit Corporation) label was launched in 2006. Its purpose is to certify companies with a positive social and environmental impact. More than 2,600 companies have been certified by this label in over 60 countries. This label was created with a simple intention: to rethink the notion of success by putting company performance at the service of the public interest.
Who can be certified?
This certification is awarded to companies that set environmental and societal goals in addition to financial goals. These companies must meet requirements regarding transparency, social and environmental commitment. Certified companies stand out for their positive impact and can be of all sizes and from any sector.
What is the certification process?
The certification process begins with a self-assessment by the company, which must answer a questionnaire on its environmental impact practices, its relationships with its stakeholders, and its governance practices. It must meet at least 80 out of 200 criteria. The NGO "B-Lab" then ensures that these criteria are met before awarding the label to the company, which is valid for a period of 3 years, after which the company will be re-evaluated.
The B Corp community
The B Corp label encourages companies to always evolve and strengthens its community by setting up working groups to push companies to improve their performance, exchange, and learn from one another.
