How to choose a winter coat for men?
Winter is now well underway, and it’s the perfect time to invest in a coat, the quintessential winter garment. You have plenty of coat styles to choose from, but how can you make sure you choose the right one for you? At Neiwa, we’ve put together a little guide to coats to help you find the one that will keep you company this season.
The most elegant

If you’re looking for a coat that will complement a formal look, opt for a trench coat or an overcoat. Both are particularly elegant and can easily be worn with a suit. However, keep in mind that an overcoat is not water-repellent and that a trench coat, although waterproof, is not the best choice for braving the cold.
The timeless

For a more casual-chic look, you can opt for a duffle coat or a peacoat. Both are timeless, warm, and comfortable styles that will keep you well protected from the cold during winter. They are not recommended with formal attire, but if you do want to incorporate one into a chic look, choose a peacoat, which is more minimalist and comes in a classic color such as navy blue. An overcoat can also be incorporated into a casual-chic look, provided the outfit is well-balanced and not too casual.
The most casual

The most casual winter coats are undoubtedly puffer jackets and parkas, which are very comfortable and pair perfectly with streetwear. With puffer jackets, pay attention to the material they are made from, as they are not necessarily waterproof. Also, keep in mind that natural insulation will keep you warmer than synthetic insulation. As for parkas, they are versatile technical garments that are waterproof and breathable, helping you brave all winter weather, but they can be difficult to pair with a formal look.
Finally, pay attention to the length of the coat in relation to your body shape. If you are short, opt for short coats. For the color, you can’t go wrong with navy blue, black, gray, or camel. Another color, on the other hand, can add an original touch to your look.
The classic and essential material of the season remains wool, which regulates your temperature, keeps you warm, and helps you brave the cold. You should also not overlook technical materials, which are more effective in rainy weather.
